New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2007, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Lessie Marie Babineaux Nicholson, 89, who died Thursday, January 18, 2007 in New Iberia.
A private entombment will be held at a later date.
Rev. Mike Arnaud will be the celebrant of the funeral service. ?The readers will be Amy Braun and Katherine Breaux; gift bearers will be Allen Gosnell, Dariane Breaux, Sadie Schoeffler, and Carmen Gonsoulin; and music will be provided by Nancy Schoeffler and Jennifer Gonsoulin.
Mrs. Nicholson was a 1936 graduate of New Iberia High School. She was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society, the Boat Club, Home Demonstration, P.T.A., Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Air Stream Campers Club. ?She was very organized and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd A. Nicholson, Jr. and his wife, Carmen; her daughter, Lynette N. Gosnell and her husband, Allen, all of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Timothy A. Gosnell and his wife, Rachel of Pensacola, FL, William A. Gosnell of Atlanta, GA, Katherine N. Breaux and her husband, Vic of New Iberia, Nancy N. Schoeffler and her husband, Howard of Youngsville, Lloyd A. Nicholson, III and his wife, Mary of New Iberia, Amy N. Braun and her husband, Byron of Lafayette, and Jennifer N. Gonsoulin and her husband, Ryan of New Iberia; and eleven great grandchildren, Dylan Breaux, Dariane Breaux, Damien Breaux, Sadie Schoeffler, Garrett Schoeffler, Lucy Nicholson, Jacob Braun, Elizabeth Braun, Carmen Gonsoulin, Ryan Michael Gonsoulin, and Amanda Tate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd A. Nicholson, Sr.; her parents, Moise and Marie Richard Babineaux; and her sister, Marie Eldine Babineaux.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 9:00 a.m. on Monday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are, Timothy Gosnell, William Gosnell, Howard Schoeffler, Lloyd Nicholson, III, Frank Ellis, Byron Braun, Dylan Breaux, and Ryan Gonsoulin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Leo Richard and Vic Breaux.
The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for the care and support given to her during her illness.
