St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Lester Bergeron, 82, who passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:30 am until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am on Saturday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Nicole Bruchez, Amy Bergeron, and Michelle Bergeron. Gift Bearers will be his children.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Lester was employed by McDermott, Inc. for 30 years before his retirement. Lester spent most of his life working as a Dredge Boat Operator to provide a good living for his family. His family was his life and spending time with them brought him joy, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years, Mae Hulin Bergeron; sons, Chester Bergeron and wife Brenda of St. Martinville, Leslie "Yo" Bergeron and wife Bridget of Loreauville, Dexter Bergeron and wife Leslie of St. Martinville; daughter, Anita Boutte and husband Calvin of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Ernie Boutte, Todd Boutte, Nick Bergeron, Nicole Bruchez, Derek Bergeron, Jesse Bergeron, Drew Bergeron, Michelle Bergeron and Amy Bergeron; 10 great grandchildren; his brothers, Henry Bergeron of Scott, Don Bergeron of Breaux Bridge; and his sister, AnnaLee Bourque of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Bergeron; his mother, Lilly Bergeron; his brother, Wiley Bergeron and twin brother, Chester Bergeron; and his sisters, Ione Menard and Renella Thomassee.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Boutte, Todd Boutte, Nick Bergeron, Derek Bergeron, Jesse Bergeron and Drew Bergeron.
Donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice.
