Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 23, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Lester Landry, Jr., 77, who passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at his daughter's residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ. will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Dena S. Lewis and Chasity Mercier.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Lester was born on October 22, 1946, in Lafayette. Lester was an exceptional individual who poured his heart and soul into his craft. As a construction worker for fifty years, he left an indelible mark on the world through the projects he helped build.
Beyond his work life, Lester was a man of many hobbies and interests that brought immense joy into his existence. He had an intrinsic fondness for nature and spent countless hours nurturing his yard with love and care.
Lester had a penchant for the excitement of horse racing. The thrill of watching racehorses gallop across the track brought him joy as he studied their form with enthusiasm. His eyes would light up whenever he spoke about his experiences at the racetrack, sharing stories of thrilling races and unforgettable wins.
Above all else, Lester cherished spending time with his beloved family. Family bonds meant everything to him, and he found peace in their presence. Being around his parents brought back cherished memories from his childhood-memories of love, support, and guided wisdom that shaped him into the incredible person that he became.
Lester's children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He treasured every moment spent with them as they formed lasting connections filled with laughter, love, and shared experiences. Whether cheering alongside them at sports events or gathering around the television to root for his beloved Saints, it was these moments that Lester held closest to his heart-a reminder of the abundant love that surrounded him.
He is survived by his wife, Mary D. Landry; sons, Derrick Landry Brown and Terry Anthony Landry; daughters, Tina Marie Landry, Karica Ann Landry, Shamantha Faye Landry and Tara Jonne' Landry; sisters, Laura Pitte(Leo), Shirley Guidry, Kathy Johnson(Joe), Norma Dural(John), JoeAnn Landry Stewart(Leo), Juanita Carter and Nancy Landry; grandchildren, Brandon M. Landry, Kendreana M. James, Elijah J. Roberts, Jerell Dural, Ashanti Dural, Brittany Dural, Issac Landry, Faye Landry, Deontre' Landry, India Guidry, Tyreake Landry, Ian Landry, Kendell Landry, Heavenly Jolivette, Jamyra Joseph, Jeremiah Joseph, Abrianna Joesph, Tyress Landry, Braylee Landry and Braylen Landry; and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary LeBlanc Landry, Sr.; son, Ronnie James Landry; grandchildren, Christopher Landry and Derrick Landry; sisters, Vesta Mae Landry and Rose Mercier; brothers, Ricky Landry, Larry Landry and Michael Landry; and a host of aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Bradford Landry, Elijah J. Roberts, Lyle Pitte, Brandon Landry, Lance Landry, and Andrew Simon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Pitte, Terry Landry, Derrick Landry Brown, Joe Johnson, John Dural, Paul Mercier, Jr, Leo Stewart, Carson Mark Guidry, Leadrick Pitt and Edward Mercier III.
