New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Lester J. Richard, 91 who died Monday, June 7, 2010 in Broussard. ; Military graveside honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Born on June 5, 1919 in New Iberia, Mr. Richard is a retired Senior Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force, with 23years of service to our country, which included World War II and the Korean War. An avid fisherman, he also retired from the Iberia Parish School Board as a bus driver, where he worked for 13 years. Survivors include his son, Dean Richard and wife Theresa of Broussard; daughter, Dolly Duplantis of New Iberia; brother, Howard Richard and wife Irene of Loreauville; sister, Lilly Myers of New Iberia; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia M. Richard; parents, Oscar and Delia Lecamus Richard; brother, Louis Richard; sister, Ledie Legnon; son-in-law, Terry Duplantis; and a granddaughter, Lynn Claire Oubre. Pallbearers will be Dean Richard, Shane Crochet, Charles Oubre, Seth Richard, Steven Frawley, Todd Thibodeaux, Monty Richard, and Mike Nowell. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Iberia VFW Post 1982, P.O. Box 10623, New Iberia, LA, 70562. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday.
