New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at St. Edward Catholic Church in New Iberia, for LeVar Joseph Scarlee Mitchell, 38, who passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the St. Edward Church Cemetery.
Msgr. Ronald Broussard will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 7:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed Saturday at 9:00 AM.
LeVar was born on May 5, 1977 in Lafayette, and was a resident of New Iberia. He was employed by Wilson's Janitoral Service, previously working at John Hopkins Elementary School, and currently working at Cane View Elementary School. LeVar had a passion for fishing, and would fish 24 - 7 if possible. An avid sports fan, he loved football, especially the Super Bowl Champs, the Denver Broncos, and also the New York Knicks Basketball Team.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Decuir of New Iberia; father, Raymond Wilson of New Iberia; sons, Zykendrick Morris of New Iberia, Jacoby Zeno of St. Martinville; daughter, Kayla Young of Houston, TX; brothers, D'Andre Wilson of Lafayette, Joseph Carl Green of New Iberia; sisters, Tonya Calais and husband Carlos of Fontana, CA, Tori Wilson of Loreauville, and Lakondra Vitatoe of Sacramento, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Mitchell; grandparents, Louis Decuir, Nolia Decuir, Willie Wilson, Marjorie Wilson, Robert Mitchell, and Alice Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be D'Andre Wilson, Adrian Wilson, Joseph Williams, Larry Mitchell, Torey Decuir, and Akira Celestine.
