New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at St. Edward Church in New Iberia, for Lillian "Chukie" Day Barlow , 93, who passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Lafayette General Hospital.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 7:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM Saturday.
Rev. Thomas Vu will be the Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Barlow was born on November 30, 1921 in Olivier, LA to Aaron Day and Louisa Jean-Louis Day. She was a devoted member of St. Edward/St. Jude Catholic Church. She worked for the Iberia Parish School Board for 20 years, Heritage Manor North Nursing Home for 15 years, and also has a private duty sitter for several years. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, baking, cooking, shopping, and going to the casino.
Survivors include her children, Everett Barlow, Sr. of Olivier, Curtis Barlow, Sr. and wife Joyce of Coteau, Louise Barlow-Jefferson and husband David of New Iberia, Claudette Smith and husband Michael of New Iberia, Iris Blair of Allen, TX, Vera Clavelle and husband John Henry of New Iberia, Judy Barlow of Lafayette; 21 grandchildren; a host of great and great great grandchildren; nephew, Aaron Tommy Prevost of Port Arthur, Texas; nieces, Joean Carroll Smith, Marilyn Rochon, Marjorie Nell Moore, Wilda Mae Neal, Wilma Mitchell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Horace John Barlow; her sisters, Rachel Day, Lustania Day Carroll Livingston, Matilda Prevost Viltz, Joanna Archangel Miller; a brother, Arthur Day, and a nephew, Wilbert Archangel.
