New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church, in New Iberia for Lily Jean Guillot Cestia, 92, who died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at her residence.
Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, in New Iberia.
Rev. Charles Langlois, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church will be the Celebrant.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Cestia was an educator in Iberia Parish for an excess of 39 years. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society, Iberia Parish Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, and a long time member of the New Iberia Garden Club. Mrs. Cestia was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her sons, Burton E. Cestia, Jr. and wife Mary of New Iberia, Bud Cestia and wife Shelia of New Iberia; daughter, Sylvia Margaret Cestia Leake of St. Francisville, LA.; grandchildren, Stuart James Cestia, Tyler John Cestia, Emily Marie Cestia, Katherine Elizabeth Cestia, Burton E. Cestia, III, George Allen Cestia, Edith Louise Cestia, Robert Perkins Leake, Jr., Hunter Cestia Leake, Caroline Sylvia Leake; 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Hortense Abadie Guillot; husband, Burton E. Cestia, Sr.; son-in-law, Robert Perkins Leake, Sr.; brothers, Emile Guillot, Henry Guillot, Frank Guillot, Raymond Guillot; sisters, Rose Guillot Mouhot, Margaret Guillot.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Stuart James Cestia, Tyler John Cestia, Robert Perkins Leake, Jr., Hunter Cestia Leake, Burton E. Cestia, III, and George Allen Cestia.
