Lily Roberts, 62, born in Loreauville and a native of New Iberia, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at her home after a long fight with cancer.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Deacon Chris Doumit will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:15 PM.
Lily was born February 17, 1952 to Collins and Doris Louviere and graduated Loreauville High School. She was a dedicated mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to everyone she knew. She devoted her life to caring for her family and loved ones. Lily was known for her laugh, her shining eyes, and her love of life and fun. She was always impeccably dressed and loved to dance. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge group, having a good time with her Ya Ya Sisters, and working with her Mardi Gras krewe, The Royal Order of Eden. Lily was one of three sisters who were the best of friends, and it was her sisters who tended to her in her final weeks.
She is survived by her two children, Leah Roberts Smith of Baton Rouge and Lindsay Roberts of Youngsville; her son-in-law Chad Smith; her daughter-in-law Amanda Roberts; her two grandchildren, Autumn and Jude Smith; and her siblings, Kerney Louviere of Loreauville, Hazel Louviere of Loreauville, Gene Louviere of New Iberia, and Norma Dautreuil of Jeanerette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Roberts of New Iberia; and her parents, Collins Louviere and Doris Louviere of Loreauville.
Pallbearers will be Lindsay Roberts, Jerritt Louviere, Seth Dautreuil, Devin Dautreuil, Chad Smith, and Jude Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Dautreuil and Vernon Keller.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, especially nurses Louise and Judith, for their kindness and care in Lilys final weeks. Her children would also like to thank her sisters Hazel and Norma for their loving care during Lilys illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
