St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Linda Theriot Laperouse, 80, who passed away peacefully at her residence on July 15, 2023.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Wednesday.
Rev. Reed Bellingham will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Rylee Melancon, Lanie and Ella Boudreaux. Gift bearers will be Macie Melancon, Terri Belle and Emma Boudreaux.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Linda was born on February 16, 1943, in St. Martinville. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family and the Lord. Linda had an enriching educational journey, graduating from Mercy High in 1961 and continued her passion for learning by pursuing a Major in English at USL.
During her teenage years, Linda enjoyed dancing, swimming, and horseback riding. With a sharp wit and a warm smile, Linda charmed everyone around her. Her sparkling personality illuminated any room, making people feel comfortable and at ease in her presence. Her strong faith guided her every step, and she found solace in the teachings of God that she held dear to her heart. Linda actively participated in the "Come Lord, Jesus" Program for many years. Her commitment to this program demonstrated her unyielding devotion to her faith and the Lord's teachings. She found immense joy in spreading God's love to others and helping those in need.
Linda's proudest accomplishments lie within the family she built and the impact she made through her unwavering faith. As a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda poured boundless love into nurturing those closest to her heart. Her unconditional support ensured that each member of her family felt cherished and respected.
Linda's legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a profound impact on all who have had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving family, friends, and community members whose lives she touched in countless ways.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Laperouse, Sr.; sons, Kenneth Laperouse, Jr. (Sheryl) and Chad Laperouse (Rachel); daughters, Jennifer Breaux (Corey) and Angela Melancon (Blake); sisters, Gayle Dugas (Huey) and Evelyn Theriot, Connie Theriot (Ray); grandchildren, Lanie Boudreaux (Brandon), Travis "TJ" Thibodeaux, Jr., Brandon Laperouse, Cody Laperouse, Rylee Melancon, Wyatt Breaux, and Maci Melancon; and great-grandchildren, Sydni Borel, Jessie Laperouse, Emma Boudreaux, Hayden Boudreaux, Ella Boudreaux, and Terri Belle Boudreaux.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Theriot, Sr. and Evelyn Dugas Theriot; daughter, Elizabeth Keddy Laperouse; siblings, Alexandre "Doonie" Theriot, Jr., Nita McNair, and an infant brother; and nephew, Brad Durand.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Laperouse, Jr., Chad Laperouse, Travis "TJ" Thibodeaux, Jr., Corey Breaux, Blake Melancon, Wyatt Breaux, Brandon and Hayden Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearer will be Cody Laperouse.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her excellent caregivers that have now become family members, Charlene Courville, Angela Courville, and Linda Alexander. We will be forever grateful for the amazing love and care given to our mom.
As we gather to bid farewell to Linda, let us not mourn her loss but celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us to cherish our loved ones and embrace our faith.
