Lisa was born on July 16, 1966, in New Orleans, and was a 1984 graduate of New Iberia Senior High. She furthered her education by earning an Associate's Degree from Southern Technical College, laying the groundwork for a career that would last for 33 years at Haliburton. Lisa made lasting friendships and left an indelible mark on her colleagues. Her work ethic and commitment were admirable, reflecting her passion for her profession and her desire to contribute meaningfully to the world around her.
Lisa was lucky to have been married to her soulmate, Buddy, for 39 years. Together they loved & raised their fur babies, Brandy, Mia, Belle, and Snoopy. She spent a majority of her free time playing with her dogs & relaxing in her pool. Her pool and house hold a lot of memories for a lot of friends and family she loved. Lisa found peace and rejuvenation at the beach, another of her happy places. An avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, she & Buddy held season tickets for many years and attended most games. Lisa also enjoyed fishing and having fun. She cherished spending time with her family and friends and was always the happiest person in the room. Even in her fight against cancer she was always putting people before herself and smiling through the pain, fear & defeat. She wasn’t defeated often as she was the strongest fighter most people will ever meet. She faced cancer head on and immersed herself in research. Lisa truly fought the cancer with everything she had and died peacefully knowing she gave it her all. Her body was tired but her heart will never be asleep to those who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Salvador “Buddy”DiMarco, Jr; her mother, Laura George Prescia; brothers-in-law, Joseph DiMarco and Frederick DiMarco; uncle, Robert George (Yolande); niece/godchild, Casey O’Brien; nephew/godchild, Brenden O’Brien; niece, Amber DiMarco; godchildren, Michelle Stevens Newsom and Jory Gary; and Sutten Newsom, who was like a granddaughter.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Prescia; sister, Sherry Prescia O’Brien; brother, Joseph Brian Prescia; and her husband’s parents, Salvador “Buster” DiMarco and Theresa DeBiasi DiMarco.
Pallbearers will be Jacy Gary, Jory Gary, Trey Gary, Travis Stevens, Carson Ransonet, and Logan Ransonet.
Honorary pallbearers include Michael Stoute and Brenden O’Brien.
The Family would like to give special thanks to Lana Sanchez, Jane Bearb, Tessie Dore, Claudia Gregg, Molly Douglas, Lanette Romero, Jill Gary, Lori Stute, Tammy Leblanc, Michelle McDonald, Donna Theriot, & all of the other angels who helped. They would also like to thank the husbands’ of these friends who sacrificed their time with their spouses so they could go above and beyond caring for our Lisa. They were always there to lend a helping hand when needed as well. Courtney Ransonet, one of Lisa’s dear friends, spent the last few months helping with everything from pretending to be Lisa so she could handle the clerical side of things, to quite literally being her personal nurse. She coined the title “Lisa’s personal assistant”.
Additionally, Lisa’s family would like to thank Dr. Mose Kitakule, MD, Dr. Philippe Prouet, MD, Dr. Dana Clay Dicharry, MD, and Hospice of Acadiana.
