Breaux Bridge - Lita, also known as Mom Mom, Vielle, and La Taunte, was born on September 1, 1910 to Valsin and Martha Landry Castille, and passed away at St. Martin Hospital on Friday, February 1, 2008, of natural causes, at the age of 97.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, February 4, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church., with Rev. Fr. Louis Allen Breaux officiating at the funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Cormier was a resident at St. Agnes Nursing Home for the past 5 ? years.
She is survived by two sons, Guilman Cormier and his wife, Doris, of Breaux Bridge, and Anatole ""Pete"" Cormier and his wife, Claudia, of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Gil Paul Cormier and his wife, Debbie, of St. Martinville, Sandra Castille, of Breaux Bridge, Nicole Cormier, of Lafayette, Michelle Cormier, of Washington, DC, Rodney Dore and his wife, Cecile, of Lafayette, Allen Dore and his wife, Cindy, of Lake Charles, Tony Bourgeois, of New Iberia, and Phyllis Wilcox and her husband, Chris, of Norfolk, VA.; thirteen great grandchildren, Jason Cormier, of Gilmanton, New Hampshire, Brian Cormier, Lynzie Cormier and Kent Cormier, of St. Martinville, Sanders Castille, of Breaux Bridge, Margaret Dore and Jonathan Dore, of Lafayette, Travis Dore and Zachary Dore, of Lake Charles, Rebecca Wall, of Broussard, Rene Reel, Ryan Landry, and Ross Landry, of New Iberia; seven great-great grandchildren, Haden Cormier, Kadee Cormier, of Gilmanton, New Hampshire, Corbin Cormier and MaLayne Doucet, of St. Martinville, Christian Gage Landry, Alexis Landry, of New Iberia and Jenna Wall, of Broussard.
She is also survived by two brothers, Francis ""Papoot"" Castille and his wife, Enola ""Toot"" and Felix ""Peco"" Castille and his wife, Elsie, of Breaux Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Anatole Cormier, Sr.; her Father, Valsin Castille; her mother, Martha Castille; her four sisters, Rena Thibodeaux, Eunice LeBlanc, Byrdie Wiltz, and Annette Melancon; one brother, Oldon Castille; and two daughters, Janel Dore and Clotilde ""Connie"" Miguez.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9.00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2008, and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The family would like to thank Dr. Debra Durham and the staff of St. Agnes Nursing Home and St. Martin Hospital for the loving care they gave Lita during her illness.
