Parks - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Livingston Roberts, Jr., 67, who passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Roberts was a parishioner of St. Louis Chapel in Parks where he served as an Usher for many years and was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver for 43 years. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and going to the horse races. His favorite pastime was having family cookouts at his home for everyone to enjoy. He enjoyed spending time with young people while encouraging and helping them to stay out of trouble. He was a mentor and parent to his brother and sister while he was taking care of his mother.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Caroline J. Roberts, of Parks; three sons, Karl Roberts and his wife, Marie, of Vidalia, Craig Roberts and his wife, Wendy, of Lafayette, and Marcus Roberts, Sr. and his wife, Nancy, of Warner-Robbins, GA; his mother, Mable Roberts, of Parks; three brothers, Joseph Roberts, of Houston, TX, Venice Roberts and Scotty Roberts, both of Parks; four sisters, Bertha Wiltz, of Houston, TX, Mary Ella Hypolite, of Parks, Marie George, of Houston, TX, and Evangeline Anoka, of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Livingston Roberts, Sr.; and a brother, Luther Roberts.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Peter Hypolite, Marcus Roberts, Jr., Ronald Stewart, Joseph Wiltz, Christopher George, and Brian Charles.
Honorary pallbearers will be MacAuthur George, Joseph Roberts, Karl Roberts, Craig Roberts, Marcus Roberts, Sr., Frank Malveaux, Wilson Filer, Zeben Hypolite, Timothy Dugas, Scotty Roberts, Venice Roberts, Timothy Wilson, Alton Robertson, Jr., and John Allen Wiltz.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
