Loreauville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville for Lois Prosper Decuir, 86, who died Sunday, August 18, 2013, in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at ;7:15 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 7:00 AM until 9:45 AM. Mrs. Decuir was born on July 16, 1927 in Loreauville to Sully and Edna Chataignier Prosper. An avid reader, she was a lifelong resident of Iberia Parish and had a love for animals. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Perry J. Decuir, Sr. of New Iberia; daughters, Linda Moncla and husband Tom of Lafayette, Virginia Shea and husband Jimmy of New Iberia, Laurie Barake and husband Ali of Lafayette, Andy Palmer and husband Joel of Broussard; sons, Perry Decuir, Jr. and wife Jenny of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Tom Decuir and wife Ginny of Portland, Oregon; sister, Hazel Boutte Frioux of Loreauville; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy; and a sister, Rena Gondron. Pallbearers include Tom Moncla, Jimmy Shea, Ali Barake, Joel Palmer, Woodrow Gondron, Jr., and Scott Decuir. Honorary pallbearers will be Oswald Decuir, and Lee 'Neco' Broussard. The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice, Dr. Ellen Mullen, and to Mrs. Decuirs caregivers, Yvetta Edwards, Stacy Narcisse, Becky Hill, and Theyron Thompson, as well as the many other caregivers and physicians who have cared for her, for their extraordinary care and compassion.
