New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Lonnie Dean Doucet, 44, who passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.
Rev. Randy Dugas will be the Officiant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Wednesday.
A native of New Iberia and a resident of Kenner, Lonnie Dean Doucet was born on November 2, 1974, and was a Confined Space Rescue Technician for Total Safety. Lonnie had a peculiar sense of humor, was a great cook, and loved his family, MMA, elephants, and attending Clutch concerts. He was controversial and very opinionated about politics, was an avid Trump supporter, and a brilliant debater. Lonnie was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather, and above all else, he loved spending time with his children. He will be deeply missed.
Lonnie is survived by his daughters, Malaya Guidry and husband Quinn of Rayne, and Marlie Doucet of Broussard; granddaughter, Vaida Guidry of Rayne; his loving fiancée, Mallory Haydel of Kenner; mother, Barbara Anson of New Iberia; sisters, Shannon Gonsoulin and husband Norbert of New Iberia, and Barbara "Bobbie" Monteaux and fiance, Keith Blanchard of New Iberia; stepbrothers, Bobby, Scott, Ross and Steve Anson; his best friend, Chance Migues and Chance's son, Noah of Lafayette; his faithful fur babies, Camille and Louie; 10 nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Henry Doucet, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Henry and Amy Doucet; maternal grandparents, Lennis "T-Coon" and Adelta Bourque; a sister, Marie "Toni" Monteaux; nephew, Damian Bourque; uncle and aunt, Robert and Charla Bourque; aunt, Mary Bourque; godmother, Bessie Bourque; stepfather, Robert Anson; and cousins, Heather Dugas and James “Monkey” Roland.
Pallbearers will be Norbert Gonsoulin, Aaron Gonsoulin, Adam Gonsoulin, Austin Gonsoulin, Chance Migues and Damian Blanchard.
Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Bourque, Evans Bourque, Kevin Bourque and Noah Migues.
