Lorena Ann B. Hulin

February 2, 1929 — June 4, 2009

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Lorena Ann Bertrand Hulin, 80, who passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass. Mrs. Hulin was born on February 2, 1929 to Theogene and Edolie Berthelot Bertrand. She graduated from St. Martinville High School in 1947 as class Valedictorian. She was employed with Bordelon Chevrolet 60 years ago, where she met the love of her life, Mr. Hubert (Mr. Bee). Lorena later went to work with her husband as the bookkeeper at Hubert Hulin Lumber Yard. Mr. Hubert told Lorena, if you're going to be a bookkeeper, you're going to be my bookkeeper, and they lovingly worked alongside each other for many years to follow. Lorena was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where she was very active with the Catholic Daughters of America and was responsible for taking care of the Milk Fund. She loved to eat out at restaurants, watch t.v., attend all of her C.D.A. meetings and pray the Rosary. Lorena enjoyed going on vacations with her family - she lived for her family and was known to give a kiss to all those she loved. The times she treasured most, were those spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Hubert Joseph Hulin, Sr., of St. Martinville; her children, Murphy A. Hulin and his wife, Julie, Ray Allen Hulin and his wife, Priscilla, Frances Duplantis and her husband, Walter, Judy Roberts, Hubert Hulin, Jr., and his wife, Linda, and Huey Hulin and his wife, Tammy, all of St. Martinville; her grandchildren, Sully, Spencer, Ross, Christie, Stephanie, Travis, Kelsey, Paige, Chase, Kami, Brody, Addy, Michael, Matthew, Kelly, Mindy, Opie, and Ashley; and her great grandchildren, Anthony, Caitlyn, Reece, Carter, Miyon, Taylor, Brandon, and Alix. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theogene and Edolie Berthelot Bertrand; and an infant sister. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters and at 7 p.m. by Msgr. Courville, on Friday evening. Pallbearers will be Sully Hulin, Spencer Hulin, Ross Hulin, Travis Hulin, Chase Duplantis, and Brody Hulin. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hulin, Matthew Hulin, Opie Prados, and Chris Landry. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
