Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Lula Mae ""Lou"" Picheloup Bakos, 83, who died at 5:20 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette after a brief illness.
The Rev. Allen Breaux of St. Bernard Catholic Church will be the celebrant of the funeral mass and will conduct the burial service. ?Entombment will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery, Mausoleum No. 2, in Breaux Bridge.
Lou was born on October 1, 1922. ?She was a native of Coteau and a lifelong resident of Acadiana, living 65 years in Breaux Bridge. ?Lou was active in many civic organizations. ?She was known as one who could do anything and tried her best at everything. ?She was loved dearly by her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Mickie Bakos Castille and her husband, Curtis Castille of Breaux Bridge; two granddaughters, April Castille Goodyear and her husband, Al; Carrie Castille Mendoza and her husband, David, all from Breaux Bridge. ?She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Alex Goodyear, Andr? Goodyear, Megan Borel, and Joshua Mendoza.
She was preceded in death by her father, Honore ""Noe"" Picheloup; her mother, Lydia Lopez Picheloup; and one brother, Gus Picheloup.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Al Goodyear, Alex Goodyear, David Mendoza, Corey Borel, Johnny Raymond, and Larry Freeman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Castille, Andr? Goodyear, and Megan Borel.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
