St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Louella D. Hamlett, 83, who passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019, at her residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 11:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Readers will be Candice Louviere and Stevie Hamlett.
Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Louella was the Postmaster for the Village of Parks for 20 years and was a member of several other organizations in the community, which included a youth club. She graduated from SLI in nursing and during her years of college, she marched in the band and played the saxophone. Louella enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Hamlett of Arnaudville, David Hamlett of Parks, and Joel Hamlett and wife Monica of Parks; daughter, Annette Hamlett and husband Steve of TX; grandchildren, Jason Gannard, Jessica Gannard, Stevie Hamlett Tevor Hamlett, Peter Hamlett, Ernie Talley, Jr., Jeremy Hamlett, Heather Hamlett, and Kirk Hamlett; great grandchildren, Chloe Gannard, Saylor Doucet, Kason Hamlett, Morgan Talley, Owen and Konner Olivier, Landon, Logan, Layah, Gage and Brylan Hamlett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alto "Buddy" Hamlett, Jr.; parents, J.O. and Mae Lasseigne Dugas; and two daughters-in-law, Christine and Kathy Hamlett.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Hamlett, Peter Hamlett, Ernie Talley Jr., Gabe Gautier, Wilfred Gary, and Gage Hamlett.
