New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Monday, March 23, 2009, at St. Peters Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Louis Edmond Berges, 94, who passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009 in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Charles Langlois will be the Celebrant.
Born on January 25, 1915 in New Iberia, Mr. Berges retired from LASCO with 25 years of service, and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II. He enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his sons, Larry Berges and wife Vivian of New Iberia, Robert L. Berges and wife Evelyn Claire of Houston; daughter, Suzanne B. Woods and husband Darcy of Blairsden, CA.; grandchildren, Christina Mason and husband Chris of New Iberia, Sarah Berges of Houston, and Mary Elizabeth Borden of New Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Belle "Tuck" Berges; a grandson, Jeremy Berges; his parents, Jean Henri Berges and Sarah Marie Laperouse Berges; sisters, Odette Pharr, Louise LeBlanc; and his brother, George Berges.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
