Parks - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 27, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks, for Louis Degeyter, 89, who died on Friday, August 24, 2007 at J. Michael Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Rev. Fr. Ed Degeyter, will officiate at the funeral Mass. ?Readers will be Monica Sogga and Jan Neveu.
Mr. Louis enjoyed his work which included, owning a lumber yard, building homes and running a farm and dairy; along side with him was his wife, Lillian and children.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Q. Degeyter, of Parks; three sons, James Degeyter and his wife, Norma, of Arnaudville, Lannie Degeyter and his wife, June, of Eunice, and John Lee Degeyter, of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Anna Mae New and her husband, Charles, of Breaux Bridge, Betty Ann Allemand and her husband, Paul, and Mary Rose Faccion and her husband, Ralph, all of Parks; his grandchildren, Monica Sogga, Greg Degeyter, Chris Degeyter, Shane Degeyter, Troy Allemand, Tommy Allemand, Jan Neveu and Brian New; and his great grandchildren, Heather, Beth, Christopher, Samantha, Benjamin, Andrew, Zachary, Caleb and Hayden Degeyter, Courtney and Ethan New, and Celeste, Joshua and Evan Sogga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Honorine C. and Cyriaque Degeyter, Sr.; his brothers, Cesaire, Thaddy, Benjamin, Cyriaque, Jr., Laurent, Pierre, Francis, and Roy Degeyter; and his sisters, Laure D. Thibodeaux, Laura D. Savoy, Corinne D. Dwyer, and Rose D. Mouton.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Gregory, Christopher, and Shane Degeyter, Troy and Tommy Allemand, and Brian New.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Neveu and Chris Sogga
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
