Coteau - Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Louis Maturin, 89, who passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, in New Iberia.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Cemetery in Coteau.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Officiant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday.
A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 11:00 am on Wednesday.
A lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Louis Maturin was born on January 6, 1931 to the late Averal and Rosalie Segura Maturin, and was retired from Bruce Foods. He was a simple man with a green thumb, and was always looking to make a dollar, whether it be from selling oranges, fresh eggs, or aluminum cans. Mr. Louis was a hard worker; he loved gardening, and always had a good crop of vegetables. He loved tending to his cows and chickens, and enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Maturin is survived by his loving wife of nearly 71 years, Cecile Dore Maturin; daughters, Barbara M. Hebert of New Iberia and Theresa M. (Mark) Landry of Abbeville; sons, Forrest (Roxie) Maturin of Coteau, Reynolds "Renis" Maturin of Lake Charles, and Michael (Carlie) Maturin of St. Martinville; sisters, Olive Norris and Mary Champagne; grandchildren, Marc (Megan) Hebert, Anne (Nick) LeBlanc, Jennifer (Kirk) Landry, Randy (Andie) Landry, Kevin Landry, Melanie Landry, Coty (Amber) Landry, Hope (Scott) Hebert, Chris Maturin, and Chassity Maturin; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Wilson Maturin, Lastie Maturin, Sophie Rogers, Lillian Sonnier, and Curley Maturin.
