Louise Dauterive

July 26, 1920 — July 14, 2005

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18th, 2005, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Louise Anne Beslin Dauterive, 84, who died Thursday, July 14th 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. ?Mrs. Dauterive has donated her body to Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. Mrs. Dauterive, a native of St. Martinville, Louisiana, was a long-time resident of Breaux Bridge. ?In 1936 she graduated as valedictorian from the Convent of Mercy Academy in St. Martinville; in 1940 she earned her degree in Medical Technology from Loyola University in New Orleans. ?An active member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church Community, she participated in the Adult Choir, Perpetual Adoration, Grief Support Ministry, and Funeral Rosary Group. ?In addition to these parish ministries, she further shared her love of God through her work as an offertory assistant, staff assistant to the church office, and a sacristan assistant. ?Mrs. Dauterive was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Holy Name Society, Altar Society, and Daily Rosary Group. Mrs. Dauterive is survived by three children: ?Clare Dauterive Restrepo and her husband Steve Restrepo of Covington, Louisiana; Teresa Dauterive Castille and her husband Lee Castille of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; and Daniel Patrick Dauterive and his wife Tammy Dauterive of Missoula, Montana. ?Her legacy also extends to nine grandchildren: ?Alexander Paul Restrepo, Christina Lucia Restrepo, Kells Teresa Castille, Maggie Lee Castille, Shea Lennard Castille, Callan Clare Castille, and Maura Grace Castille, Myles Lawless Dauterive, and Cameron Noel Dauterive. She was preceded in death by her husband Lennard ""Doc: Dauterive (who died in 1989), her father Leopold Beslin and her mother Elmire Bienvenu Beslin, and her sister Majorie Beslin Proctor. ?She is survived by her sister Jeanette Beslin Poteet, her uncle Charles Bienvenu, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. Lou, as she was affectionately known to many, spent her life on earth praying, helping, serving the God that she loved so deeply. ?Her days that began with the rosary and mass on EWTN ended similarly - with the rosary and mass -- at her beloved parish church, St. Bernard's. ?In between these holy devotions she proved what it was to live the gospel, for she had much more than religion: ?she had faith to its deepest degree. ?Her life represented the Lord's Word in action - caring for the sick, helping the needy, and feeding the hungry. ? ???Her spiritual zest made Lou a person that everyone loved. ?Always ready to welcome company with refreshments, she made all guests - friends, relatives, and strangers - feel they had a special place in her home. ?In addition, she spread her love of God through her ever-ready wit, a gift that, in turn, brought laughter...even in the darkest of times. ?To Lou life was good, always good, because the God that enriched her mornings and afternoons through prayer to Him made the other hours of the day blessings to savor, heavenly riches that she so humbly shared with all. In lieu of flowers, masses may be offered or memorial donations may be made to the St. Bernard Adult Choir Christmas Concert (in care of Patrick Menard, P.O. Box 130, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517).
