Henderson - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson for Lovel W. Benoit, 91, who passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Carpenter House.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7am until time of service.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday by the Ladies Altar Society.
Rev. Lloyd Benoit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Karen Benoit and Anna Guidry. Gift Bearers will be Simone Benoit and Sacora Francis.
Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.
Lovel was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, St. Martin Parish Home Demonstration for 50 years, and AARP. She was honored and blessed to be the recipient of the Bishop's Medal in 2010. Lovel traveled around the world and had many memories to share with everyone after returning from each place of travel. She enjoyed cooking, sewing her daughter's clothes, and attending the Annual Family Good Friday Tart Baking. She will be sadly missed, but remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and that special lady in her community that was helpful to anyone who needed.
She is survived by her son, Charles Dale Benoit and his wife Karen of Parks; daughters, Barbara Doiron and her husband Phillippe of Breaux Bridge, and Cheryl Messa and her husband Rickey of Lafayette; grandchildren, Blaise Benoit, Simone Benoit, Alex Guidry, Myles Theriot, Stephanie Paternostro, Roxy Lapara, Michael Messa, Monica Borel, Pierre Doiron, Andre Doiron, Dexter Courville, and Meagan Courville; great grandchildren, Jackson Guidry, Mason Guidry, Sebastian Theriot, Olivier Emile Benoit, Katlyn Doucet, Anthony Paternostro, Dominick Paternostro, Joshua Paternostro, Julien Borel, Ruby Borel, Luciana Borel, Anthony Borel, Gabriel Doiron, Reese Doiron, Ryan Doiron, and Anna Grace Dugas; and her sister, Verline Latiolais and her husband Alton of Port Arthur, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexandre and Therese Daigle Wiltz; three infant brothers; and her sister, Irene W. Guidry.
Pallbearers will be Blaise Benoit, Alex Guidry, Myles Theriot, Ricky Messa, Phillippe Doiron, and Darrel Latiolais.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Guidry, Ronald Theriot, and Charles D. Benoit.
