Lucy Darby Bonin

Arnaudville A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Lucy Darby Bonin, 88, who passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Arnaudville from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday and continue at 7:00 am until 9:30 am on Tuesday A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ken Soignier at 7:00 pm on Monday. Father Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Mass. Reading the scriptures for the service will be Laura Berard and Carole Dauphine. Her nieces will serve as gift bearers. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Mrs. Bonin taught school for 30 years; her students became her children, and she loved them deeply as they did her. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau and also held the position as treasurer for the College. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, and Louisiana Teachers Association. In her free time she enjoyed sewing. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Bonin of Cecilia and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Felix Darby, Sr. her mother, Marie Blanchard Darby, her brothers, Edwin Darby, Albert Darby, Johnny Darby, Louis Darby, Henry Darby, Paul Darby and Felix Darby, Jr., her sisters, Edith Huval and Jeanne Guidry.
