Lucy Mercedes Priest

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Teche Baptist Church in Breaux Bridge for Lucy Priest, 77, who passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville, Mississippi. Lucy was an admired school teacher for 25 years. During those years, she provided many students with the tools they needed to succeed in education. She earned her master's degree and was very proud of her accomplishments. Lucy was a member of Teche Baptist Church where she and her husband were instrumental in building the new Sanctuary and attended services weekly. She was an avid LSU fan and alumni. Lucy enjoyed painting portraits, working with ceramics, traveling and camping. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her husband Carl, of whom she shared 60 wonderful years. She is survived by her loving husband, Carl Priest; sons, Curtis Priest of Abbeville, and Doug Priest and wife Robin of Addis; grandchildren, Aaron Priest and spouse Amanda, and Chase Priest; great grandchild, Kailey Priest; brothers, Walter Suggs of TN, and Henry Suggs and wife Marie of Springfield, MO; and sister, Elsie Hooks of Petal, MS.
