St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes for Ludy Bernard, 91, who passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her family. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Joseph Padinjarepeedika will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes. Ludy was a member of the Catholic Daughters and St. Elizabeth Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and praying her rosary. Ludy cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Dennis Bernard and wife Lana of New Iberia; daughters, Genny Dugas and husband "JC" of St. Martinville, Linda Cormier and husband Don of Parks, Sarah Foti and husband Freddy of St. Martinville, and Annette Trahan and husband Timmie of Coteau Holmes; brothers, Linton Babineaux of Lafayette and Bob "Willie" Babineaux of Breaux Bridge; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Anthony Bernard; son, Terry Bernard; parents, Willie and Marie Trosclair Babineaux; brothers, Rodney, Sullie, Percy, Ernest, and Don "Wilfred" Babineaux; sisters, Clothilde DeJean, Anna Lou Hollier, and Anna Mae Guillory; a grandchild, Monique Trahan; and an infant grandchild, Tracy Cormier. Pallbearers will be TJ Bernard, Kevin Dugas, Cody Cormier, Zeb Foti, Zack Foti, and Corey Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Dugas and Todd Dugas. The family would like to extend special thanks to her wonderful caregivers: Joy Lasseigne, Becky Crochet, Cindy Guidry, Shirley White, and Terri Blanchard, as well as to Lourdes Hospice.
