BreauxBridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. , on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Lulla Mae Emanuel Wiltz, 70. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Father Thomas James will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Lulla Mae Emanuel Wiltz came into this world on December 16, 1939. She was born to the late John Clarence Emanuel Sr. and Lillie Hall Emanuel of Colfax, LA. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church . She graduated from Grambling High School and attended Grambling College where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a teacher at Teche Elementary, Cecilia Primary and Breaux Bridge Primary. She served in several capacities in the St. Martin Parish school district as, Supervisor of Special Education, Principal at Teche Elementary and on various boards and committees throughout the St. Martin Parish School System for 37 years.
Lulla was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. for 50 years. She enjoyed reading books and magazines. Her favorite dishes to cook were Crawfish Etouffee, cabbage greens and hot water cornbread.
On May 4, 1963, Lulla married her husband of 47 years, Alvin Joseph Wiltz. They have four lovely daughters, four wonderful grandchildren and a new addition on the way. She was lovingly and affectionately called Momma and Lou Bell by her daughters and MeMe by her grandchildren.
On September 27, 2010, Lulla slipped away peacefully at her home surrounded by love ones. She is preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Lillie H. Emanuel, Sr., brothers, Baby John and John C. Emanuel, Jr., sister, Bernadine Emanuel, Maternal grandparents Lonnie and Rebecca Sykes Hall, Paternal Grandparents Randolph and Mariah Smith Emanuel, Father and mother- in-Law Elmer and Mable Williams Wiltz, Sr., sisters-in-laws, Linda Wiltz Smith, Madel Wiltz and Yolanda Yvette Wiltz, brother-in-laws Charley Wiltz and Daniel P. Hamilton, Godfather, Deacon Lawrence Jacobs and God daughter Cathy Brew.
Lulla will be forever remembered by her devoted and loving husband, Alvin J. Wiltz; loving daughters, Jawan Marie (Carlos Semo) Wiltz, Major LuCretia Marie (Alton) James, Jr., Tara Elizabeth (Brian) Major and Nadia Elizabeth (Michael Trusclair); treasured grandchildren, Alton James III, Lamarr Thomas James, Brooke Elizabeth Major and Jackson JonRussell Major; loving sisters, Delores Hamilton, Martha Ann Emanuel (Billy) Norman Sr., Wanda Marie Emanuel (Manuel) Woods; devoted brothers, Levoie Thomas (Letha) Emanuel, Willie D. Emanuel, Henry O'Neal (Carlise) Emanuel, and Henry Pinell (Vera) Johnson; sister-in-laws, Lois (Odell) Trahan, Jeanette (Walter) Foreman, and Charlene Wiltz; brother-in-laws, Chester J. (Stella) Wiltz, Elmer J. Wiltz, Jr., Raymond J. Wiltz and Gregory J. Wiltz; God children Monica Emanuel (Darnell) Wright, Tawanna Portier and Danielle P. Hamilton; Daughters of the Family, Lisa (Terry) Boyd and Charlene (Kenneth) Potier, DeLisa Washington and LaKisha Varner and Taylar D. Harrison; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 a.m.
