Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Monday, May 13, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Luna Boutte Melancon, 77, who passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue at 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Colin Castille, Callie Melancon, and Gabbi Castille. Gift Bearers will be Paige Mier, Michelle Thibodeaux, Shawn Dugas, and Lexi Boyer. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Luna worked for Martin Mills for many years, and at one time had their own business. She enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family and she especially loved having the kids around her. Luna was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Antoine "Tony" Melancon; her son, Kenneth (Maggie) Melancon of Parks, five daughters, Pattie (Bab) Babineaux, Mickey Boyer, Mitzy (Johnny) Thibodeaux, Sandra (Mike) Castille, all of Breaux Bridge, and Liz (Jody) Stinson of Scott; three brothers, Allen Boutte, Zerben Boutte, T-Paul Boutte; her sister, Margaret (Allen) Estilette; 19 grandchildren, Paige, Drake, Gabbi, Colin, Michelle, Gary, Joshua, Danielle, Brooks, Megan, Jamin, Jacob, Matthew, Callie, Anna, Bret, Lexi, Shawn, and Laice; and17 great grandchildren, Caynon, Paiton, Colston, Ridge, Ryland, Laykin, Kynlee, Taylor, Scarlet, Jayce, Isabella, Riley, Charlie, Trinity, Destiny, Jorda, and Cadence. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Lillia Blanchard Boutte; her sister, Angele Bonin; two brothers, Calvin Boutte, Sr. and Bob Boutte; and a grandson, Jeremy Boyer. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Melancon, Jacob Melancon, Joshua Thibodeaux, Gary Usie, Drake Mier, and Laice Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law and Jerry Boyer. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Heart of Hospice, Mrs. Shelby, Dr. Donald, Dr. Boudreaux, and Dr. Deidre Stelly, for the care and attention given to her during her time of need.
