St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Lydia Marie Phillips Abraham, 87, who passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at St. Martinville Rehab and Nursing Home.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mrs. Phillips enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and taking care of children. She was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily.
Survivors include her son, Claygese Abraham, Sr., of St. Martinville; her daughter, Mary Lucille Guidry and her husband, Alvin, of Knoxville, Tenn.; her sister, Vera Dauphine, of Parks; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Abraham; her parents, Marshall and Victoria Mallery Phillips; her brothers, Walter, Joseph and Mark Phillips; her sisters, Mathilda Valsin, Helen Patt, Lillian Charles, and Lou Anna Gregoie; and one nephew, Easley Phillips.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Phillips, Leroy Phillips, Lucien Joseph, Kenneth Joseph, MacCary Benjamin, and Alvin Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Dauphine, Curtis Joseph, Lennis Phillips, Jr., Desmond Nunnery, Kenrick Daniels, and Leonard Colome.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
