Lynwood Stanley Judice

February 21, 1936 — December 31, 2023

St. Martinville - A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, at the Duchamp Opera House, 200 S. Main St., St. Martinville, LA 70582, for Lynwood Stanley Judice, who was born on February 21, 1936, in St. Martinville, LA and passed away on December 31, 2023, in Breaux Bridge, LA at the age of 87, 10 months and 10 days.

Lynn grew up in St. Martinville and graduated in 1954 from St. Martinville High School. There, he lettered four years in football and earned All State Tackle honors under Coach Ray Sturges. Upon graduation, he was awarded a football scholarship from Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute. After two years, he enlisted to serve in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Fulda, Germany, during the cold war. Following his service, Lynn returned home where he worked in the oil field, as a sugar cane farmer and eventually as the Superintendent for the City of St. Martinville, all the while continuing to serve consecutive enlistments in the LA National Guard. Eventually, Lynn took a full-time position with the National Guard, working alongside lifelong battle buddies such as, Calvin Washispack and Joey Brasseaux. Lynn retired in 1996 at the rank of Master Sergeant with 40 years of service and continued to work as a civilian employee until 2011.

Lynn loved hunting, fishing, camping in and around the Atchafalaya Basin, playing Booray at Robert’s Lounge, hosting annual Super Bowl parties and following LSU football, especially in Tiger Stadium, where he and his family were season ticket holders for decades. He loved to socialize with family and friends, such as the Romeros, and could always be found laughing while telling a joke, more often than not in French. Lynn also enjoyed dancing to and singing Fats Domino songs, who he swore he sounded exactly like. He shared his mother and sister’s passion for cooking and entertaining. He always cooked more than was needed, just so he could later deliver the extra to his friends. He had some great times in his life and leaves behind a few friends as most of them have already died, are mad at him, or both.

He is survived by his two sons, Edmond (Nina) Judice and Douglas (Ivonne) Judice; his grandsons, Joshua Judice and Juan Casas; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Lizzie Judice; his ex-wife and caretaker, Elizabeth Beyt Judice; and one niece and two nephews, as well as numerous cousins, his favorite being August Gallo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Judice and Edolie Thibodeaux Judice; his sister, Aglas ‘Bootsie’ Dutile; and his infant son, John Stanley Judice.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
