Mabel was born on December 18, 1939, in Parks. She was affectionately known to friends and family as "Toe" and to her beloved nieces and nephews as "Tee." Mabel dedicated her life to caring for others as a caregiver. For 47 years, she called New Orleans home before returning to Parks after Hurricane Katrina, where she cherished the beauty of her roots. Mabel's heart was always as big as her love for her family, friends, and faith. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-watching EWTN and old western movies, reading, and immersing herself in prayer.

Her devotion to her faith was evident in her daily walks at St. Louis Chapel, where she would spend personal time with Jesus, pausing at each Station of the Cross. Mabel's family looked forward to birthdays when she would send heartfelt cards filled with notes and gifts, as well as summer vacations brimming with laughter, fun, and opportunities to learn and grow together.

Mabel enjoyed playing Bingo at the Council on Aging and delighted in raising hens and roosters, nurturing her vibrant spirit until the very end. She loved sharing precious moments with family, engaging in laughter, prayers, and reminiscing about cherished memories. Rest in peace, dear Mabel. You will be missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her siblings, Edward Wiltz (Marie Edna), Robert Wiltz (Betty), and Cecile Wiltz; God daughter, Rose Wiltz; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernadette Dick Wiltz; sisters, Mary Mildred Dugas (Norman) and Sandra Wiltz; brothers, Louis John Wiltz (Hazel) and James Francis Wiltz (Shirley); nephews, Jermaine Joseph Wiltz, Roderick Stephen Dugas, and Jonathan James Wiltz; nieces, Marvel Wiltz, niece and God daughter, Mary Emanuella Batiste; great grandnephew, Sebastian Dugas; and her fur baby, Molly.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Father Rozas, Father Ed Degeyter, Deacon Dennis Landry, Deacon Joseph Liuzza, and the warm community of Parks for their abundant prayers during this time. Our sincere gratitude also goes to the compassionate nurses-Jennifer Hebert, Tanna Burleigh, Steve Landry-and the entire staff of Hospice of Acadiana - Calcutta House for their unwavering support. Special thanks to Timothy and Diane Dugas, her aide, Carol Jackson, and especially to her brother, Robert, for their tireless dedication in providing comfort and peace during her final days. We are forever grateful for the love and light Mabel brought into our lives.

For the Lord says, "Whoever does not accept his cross and follow me is not worthy of me? St. Paul says, "If we suffer with him, we will also reign with him."

Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
