Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Mable Narcisse Roberts, 90, who passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue at 7:00 am until 9:15 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Rev. Brad Guillory will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The scriptures will be read by Christopher George and Fidelis Anoka. Gift Bearers will be Kennedy Wiltz and DeAndre Hypolite. Music will be provided by the St. Louis Chapel Choir. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Saint Martinville.
Mable Narcisse Roberts was born on June 13, 1922 to the union of Pascal Narcisse and Bertha LeBlanc in St. Martinville, Louisiana. She later met and married Livingston Roberts, Sr. and to this union 5 boys and 4 girls were born.
She was a devoted Catholic of St. Louis Chapel Mission Church, where she was a parishioner for 75 years, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Paul Society.
She was known to everyone as 'Mama' because she was everyone's mother. She expressed to everyone how much she cared and loved them.
Mable was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured times spent with her family. She looked forward to cooking Sunday Dinner for them, which consisted of: Rice Dressing, Green Beans, Potato Salad, and everyone's favorites, Candied Yams and Macaroni and Cheese - pleasing her family and caring for them brought a tremendous amount of joy into her life.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters, Marie R. (Douglas) George of Houston, TX, Bertha R. Wiltz of Houston, TX, Mary Ella R. (Zerbin) Hypolite of Parks, and Evangeline R. Anoka of Stone Mountain, GA; three sons, Joseph Gerard (Ruby) Roberts of Houston, TX, Venice Roberts of Parks, and Joseph Pascal Roberts of Parks; two sisters, Elnora Leon and Mary George, both of St. Martinville; 25 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Livingston Roberts Sr.; two sons, Luther James Roberts and Livingston Roberts Jr.; her parents, Pascal and Bertha LeBlanc Narcisse; seven brothers, Joseph Narcisse, Albert Narcisse, Sr., Eli Narcisse, Alvin Narcisse, Sr., Paul Narcisse, Sr., Clarence Johnson, and Pascal Narcisse, Jr.; and seven sisters, Perena Landry, Louise Narcisse Lewis, Ida Mae Johnson Charles, Enola Narcisse Mitchell, Mildred Narcisse Charles, Albertine Narcisse Hypolite, and Josephine Narcisse.
Pallbearers will be Karl Roberts, Kendrick Marshall, Joseph Roberts, Jr., Fidelis Anoka, Jr., Peter Hypolite, Calvin Wiltz, Jr., and Christopher George.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Pascal Roberts, Joseph Gerald Roberts, Venice J. Roberts, Nalton George, Andrew Phillips, Alton Francis, Lester Mitchell, Michael Charles, Peter George, Randall Marshall, Joseph Zerbin Hypolite, Marcus Roberts, and Craig Roberts.
