Madlyn Lastrapes

d. April 7, 2013

Breaux Bridge - Madlyn (Domingues) Lastrapes of Breaux Bridge passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 7th, surrounded by her children and their families just 22 days shy of her 81st birthday. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge. Madlyn, affectionately known to her family and friends as "Granny" or "Girl", was the true definition of matriarch. No plans were ever made without including her and no decisions finalized without her blessing. She was a character - feisty and strong-willed. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Madlyn was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney "Nookie" Lastrapes, her parents Adlai and Ellie Hollier Domingues, and her sisters, Mamie Domingues Rees and Roma Domingues Martin. She is survived by her four children: Kim Lastrapes and wife, Sandra, Kay Dugas and husband Jerry, Kip Lastrapes and wife, Tootsie, and Kyle Lastrapes and wife, Magdalene; seven grandchildren: Alison Rastiello and husband, Mike, Sarah McLaurin and husband, Charlie, Seth Lastrapes and wife, Savannah, Justin Dugas and wife, Meredith, Jade Dugas, Gavin Lastrapes, and Jackson Lastrapes; and four great grandchildren: Madeline and Braden McLaurin and Carson and Luke Lastrapes. The family would like to thank Dr. Warren Degatur, the nurses and staff of "Heart of Hospice", Dr. Richard Broussard, and Dr. Michael McElderry and his staff for the care and services provided during her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to The Lustgarten Foundation, a leader in pancreatic cancer research, in her name. Please mail donations to 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, New York 11714. Pellerin Funeral Home, (337.332.2111), is in charge of arrangements.
