Mae Gradney Abatte

Coteau - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 1, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Mae Gradney Abatte, 88, who passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, in Coteau. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church Cemetery in Coteau. Rev. Brian Harrington will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am Monday. A lifelong resident of Coteau, Mrs. Abatte was born on May 10, 1932, in Duralde, to the late Avie and Alice Gradneigo Gradney. She enjoyed music, cooking, flowers, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Lonnie Abatte of Coteau; two daughters, Cassie Abotte of Coteau, Jeannelle Shahbazi (Sam) of Sacremento, CA; three grandchildren, Terrance Morgan (Misty), Reza Shahbazi, and Sheeva Shahbazi; two great grandchildren, Mikala Morgan, and Tyrese Morgan; sister, Alice Blaze of Coteau; and a brother, Odley Gradney (Audrey) of Houston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Abatte; two brothers, Jack Gradney, and Austin Gradney; five sisters, Jule Durrousseau, Florine Rougeau, Lula Gradney, Mildred Addie, and an infant sister.
