Majella was born on November 12, 1964, and was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Iberia, and USL, now University of Louisiana Lafayette, where she earned a degree in English. She was recognized for her work in journalism and as an elementary school teacher. Majella was known for her love of family and friends, sense of humor and kindness. Her hobbies included reading, trivia, and watching old movies. Survivors include her father, Joseph Donald Badon of New Iberia; daughter, Deanna Kilgore of Austin, Texas; brother, Eamon Badon and wife Stephanie of New Iberia; former husband and continued friend, Jeffrey Scott Kilgore of Austin, Texas; nephew, Jack Badon of New Iberia; several cousins, especially two that were very close to her, Frances Griffin of Ireland and Lori Guidry Broussard of Kaplan; and her beloved pet dog, Amy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary McCarthy Badon.
