Malena Ebow Phillips

Parks - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2008 at St. Louis Chapel in Parks for Malena Ebow Phillips, 85, who passed away peacefully at her residence in Parks on Monday, November 17, 2008. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Phillips was a parishioner of St. Louis Chapel in Parks where she was a member of the St. Louis Altar Society and St. Paul Altar Society. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to cook and treasured those times spent with her family. She was a wonderful and dedicated caretaker who enjoyed taking care of those who were ill. Survivors include one son, Paul Anthony Phillips and his wife, Melanie, of Parks; six daughters, Shirley Phillips, Dorothy Broussard, both of Parks, Anna Marie Cormier and her husband, Luger, Josephine Cormier and her husband, Wilray, all of St. Martinville, Bernadette Jeanminette and her husband, Elvis, of Jeanerette, and Melinda Faye Phillips Huger and her husband, Michael, of South Carolina; 23 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Phillips; her parents, Alcee and Marie Louise Solari Ebow; a granddaughter, Millicent Faye Zenon; seven brothers, Lucien Ebow, Lawrence Ebow, Francis Ebow, Alcee Ebow, Jr., Henery Ebow, Albert Ebow, Sr., and Percy Ebow.; and four sisters, Marie Potier, Agnes Francois, Theresa Castex, Lorena Potier, and Lucy Williams. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Dennis Castex, David Richard, Olias Broussard, Jr., Marcus Cormier, Sr., Adley Ebow, and Paul Phillips, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Elvis Jeanminette, Wilray Cormier, Sr., Ryan Jean Batiste, Michael Huger, Roderick Broussard, and Philip Castex. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
