St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Union Baptist Church in St. Martinville for Malerena Hypolite, 93, who passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Union Baptist Church from 8:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday. Rev. Joel Greene Sr. will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in St. Martinville. Malerena was born in St. Martinville to the late Harry and Rose Edward Hypolite. She was a faithful and longtime member of Union Baptist Church. Malerena will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving daughter, Helen Hypolite Michael; sister, Julia Mason and husband, Hayman; brothers, Israel Hypolite, Clarence Hypolite, and Willie Hypolite and wife Elva; grandchildren, Otis Batiste, Jr., Owen Batiste, and Farrah Batiste; and great grandchildren, Keenon Batiste, Kevin White, Jr., and Hannah White. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rose Edward Hypolite; 7 brothers; 4 sisters; and son-in-law, Sidney Michael.
