St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, September 21, 2007, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Marcelle Olivier Bienvenu, 91, who passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at her residence in St. Martinville. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Rev. Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral service, concelebrant will be Fr. Austin Leger. Mrs. Bienvenu was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, A.A.R.P., and Friends of the Library. ??She loved being surrounded by her family, especially during the holidays, and her supper club friends. ?She enjoyed reading and following the Carolina Panthers. She is survived by her six daughters, Mrs. Jimmy (Louisette) Champagne, of Beaumont, TX, Mrs. Jerry (Marcia) Delhomme, of Breaux Bridge, Mrs. Michael (Bekki) Lockhart, of Metairie, Babette Dugas, of Parks, Mrs. Chummy (Geralyn) Bourque, of Lafayette, and Mrs. Doug (Mary Margaret) Saloom, of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren, Ann Champagne, Thomas Champagne, Jeff Delhomme, Jake Delhomme, Erin Lockhart, Rebecca Lockhart, Michael Lockhart, Emily Dugas, Eric Dugas, Tesa Bourque, Katy Bourque, Leslie Saloom, Adam Saloom, and Ethan Saloom; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Bienvenu; her parents, Louisette O. and Albert G. Olivier, Sr.; two brothers, Nolan L. and Albert G. Olivier, Jr.; five sisters, Hazel O. Fournet, Theresa O. Bienvenu, Lula May Gauthier, Dolores Cancienne, and Dorothy Olivier; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Champagne Herbsleb. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2007 and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Pallbearers will be Jeff Delhomme, Thomas Champagne, Eric Dugas, Michael Lockhart, Adam Saloom, Ethan Saloom, and Billy Ransonet. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the loving care she received over the last few years from her sitters, Vanessa Landry, Eula Jones, Letha James, Joyce Benoit, and Rose Thibodeaux. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
