Margaret-Peggy T. Lancon was born on August 7, 1938, in Adeline, Louisiana to the late Sterling Joseph and June Chauvin Guyote. A longtime former resident of Baldwin, Peggy devoted 39 years of her life as a secretary at Superior Fabricators, leaving a lasting impact on those around her with her work ethic and kindness.
A devout Catholic, Peggy found solace in praying the rosary daily. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Baldwin and faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister. Later in life, she moved to New Iberia and became a member of Nativity our Lady Catholic Church.
Beyond her work and faith, Peggy cultivated a love for simple pleasures. She enjoyed losing herself in books, engaging in friendly competition through computer Scrabble, tending to her flower garden with care, and showcasing her culinary skills as a great cook. She will be deeply missed.
Ms. Lancon is survived by five children, Rhonda L. Darden, Bennett P. Lancon, Wendell John “Cujo” Lancon, Trey A. Lancon, and Donna M. Lancon; a sister, Corliss Guyote Ramirez; grandchildren, David P. Lancon (Ski Alyssia), Shaun Lancon (Darcy), Phillip Lancon (Mia), Sean-Micheal E. Wells (Lauren), and Aysja J. Rochon; and great-grandchildren, Elijah Lancon, Cyrus Lancon, Daisy Lancon, Chansson P. Lancon, Thiam Lancon, Axel Lancon, Emeline Wells, and Caelin “Cae Cae” Lozada.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Carroll Lancon; brothers, Stuart, Huey, Larry, Errol “Coyote,” and Clyde Guyote; and two grandsons, Chansson J. Lancon and Torren Lancon.
Pallbearers will be David P. Lancon, Sean-Micheal E. Wells, Bennett P. Lancon, Phillip Lancon, Matthew J. Anslum, and Larry Gaudet, Jr.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Compassus Hospice for extraordinary care and compassion.
Peggy’s legacy of hard work, faithfulness, and appreciation for life will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.
