New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2014 at Our Lady of Our Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Margaret Durio Williams, 87, who died Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in New Iberia.
Entombment will be at a later date.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant, and Rev. Mark Derise will Con-Celebrate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 PM Friday.
A longtime area resident, Mrs. Williams was born on August 29, 1927 in Evangeline, LA to Fred and Mary Ellen Savoie Durio. Her hobbies included sewing, traveling, dancing, water skiing, and playing bridge. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, and also a volunteer at Dauterive Hospital, serving in many positions with the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Williams assisted in providing nursing scholarships to many.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Oliver Ollie A. Williams, Jr. of New Iberia; children, Michael Oliver Williams and wife Nancy of Zachary, Paula Williams Foret and husband Jim Foret, Jr. of New Iberia; grandchildren, Rachel Tauzin and husband Chuck of Cecilia, Commander Jacob Foret U.S. Navy, and wife Randina of Burke, Virginia, Amy Tabor and husband Matthew of Geismer, Joseph Foret and wife Kimberly of New Iberia; great grandchildren, Victoria Tauzin, Ben Tauzin, Maggie Tauzin, Madeline Foret, Jameson Foret, Anna Foret, Emma Tabor, Matthew Tabor, Mya Foret, Tiffany England, and Alli England.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Joseph, Durio, Jr., and Luke Durio.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Foret, Joseph Foret, Matthew Tabor, Chuck Tauzin, Ben Tauzin, Johnny Mannina, and Lawrence James.
