Cecilia - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private services will be held for Marie Genevieve “ViVi” Alleman ,86, who passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, at her residence surrounded by loved ones.
Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Marie, affectionally known as "ViVi" to her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo, cooking, baking, reading, listening to Cajun music, and dancing. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia and was a member of The Ladies Society of New Hampshire. ViVi had this incredible love for her Cajun culture and strongly believed in keeping it alive. She will be remembered for her kind smile and her desire to help those around her.
She is survived by her son, Leroy (Charlene) Alleman, Jr. of Youngsville; three daughters, Deborah (Chris) McGrath of Los Lunas, NM., Pricilla (Will) Angelle of Arnaudville, and Karen (Richard) Cummins of West Chester, PA; brother, Ronald Brasseaux of Cecilia; two sisters, Bea Melancon of Breaux Bridge and Sophie Frederick of St. Martinville; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anes and Aureline Betancourt Brasseaux; beloved husband of 59 years, Leroy Alleman, Sr.; three sisters, Mae LeBlanc, Thelma Thomassee, and Ida "Pat" Dyson; two brothers, Lester Betancourt, Sr. and Lloyd Brasseaux, Sr.; and her great granddaughter, Kristen Elizabeth Cole.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd “TBoy” Brasseaux Jr., Christopher Wyble, Matt Bergeron, Gage Cole, Larson Cole, and Caiden Dugas.
Honorary pallbearers will be LeRoy “LJ” Alleman Jr., Will Angelle, Chris McGrath, Elvis James Felts, Reggie Hollier, Troy Thibodeaux, Adam Alleman, Kyler Wyble, Eathan Cole, Matthew York, Evan Alleman, and Corey Massa.
