Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, January 16, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Marie Aurelia Celestine, 73, who passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Fr. Joseph Campion will officiate at the funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Miss Celestine was a faithful servant to her Lord and a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she enjoyed attending her weekly Masses. She enjoyed watching 'Big Brother' and the 'Amazing Race' on television and going to the casino. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of them, as well as her friends. Survivors include two sisters, Mary L. Harper (James) of Garland, TX, and Patricia Williams (Johnny) of Missouri City, TX; Charlene Potier, who was like a daughter to her, of Breaux Bridge; her sister-in-law, Verna Mae Celestine of Breaux Bridge; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Sam, Jr. and Ulysses Batiste, Sr., of Breaux Bridge; her aunt, Onesta Bazile; her uncle, Abbey Phillips, both of Houston, TX; one grandchild, Tracey Celestine; two great grandchildren, Reagan Randolph, Addison Elder, all of Houston, TX; her godchild, Ulysses Batiste, Jr. of Breaux Bridge; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Mae Phillips and Allen Celestine, Sr.; a son, Farrell Celestine; four sisters, Genevieve Celestine, Vedia Batiste, Enola Sam, and Rose Marie Celestine; one brother, Allen Celestine, Jr., and a nephew, Kevin Anthony Sam. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Johnny Williams, III, Cedric Harper, Ulysses Batiste, Jr., Toby Celestine, Norman Batiste, and Earl Sam. Pellerin Funeral Home , Carver & Dauterive, is in charge of arrangements.
