On Monday, March 10, 2008, at the age of 93, Marie Durand Eastin passed away at Maison de Lafayette, Lafayette, La. ?She was the youngest of 10 children of Gilbert and Lelia Simon Durand. ?
She was preceded by her husband, Lloyd St. Martin Eastin and is survived by two sons, Lane Eastin of New Orleans, and Michael Eastin of Lafayette; a daughter in law, Betty Eastin; six grandchildren, Scott Eastin of Decatur, Ga, Melissa Hinson of Baton Rouge, Adam Eastin of New Orleans, Michael Eastin, Jr. of Lafayette, Andre Eastin of Youngsville, Chris Eastin of Houston, TX; and five great grandchildren.
For many years she was a teacher in the St. Martin Parish School system, having taught at St. Martinville High School, Catahoula Elementary and Cecilia Elementary. ?
After receiving a Masters Degree in 1961 she became a Librarian at Mercy High School in St. Martinville.
According to her wishes, a Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville, with a Family Share Time beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum, in St. Martinville.
In lieu of flowers she has requested donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Pellerin funeral home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
