Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Marie Bergeron Eskind, 92, who passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.
Msgr. Jace Eskind will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:45 am at the funeral home.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Eskind was born on May 7, 1926 to the late Adolph and Adele Giroir Bergeron, and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a “social bug” who loved to visit, dance, travel, play bingo, and spend time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen Lasseigne and husband Tras of New Iberia, Cynthia E. Templet of Prairieville; son, Jerome Eskind of Lydia; sister, Waldene "Deanie" Chiasson of Houma; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Eskind; infant son, Albert Eskind, Jr; son-in-law, Robert Templet, Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Mary B. Eskind.
Pallbearers will be Brian Templet, Robbie Templet, Casey Eskind, Ryan Eskind, Jeremy Eskind, and Brennan Lasseigne.
