Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Marie Alvina Landry, 69, who passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Paul LaFleur will officiate at the funeral Mass. Readers will be Monica Landry and Glinda Meche. Gift bearers will be her daughters.
Alvina was employed with the St. Martin Parish School Board for 24 years. She enjoyed going to conventions with her co-workers and spending time with her family, especially her husband of 53 years, Nolan. She loved to bake and would often share her baked goods with her co-workers at school. Alvina was the glue that held her family together and always looked forward to having family gatherings for the holidays, especially Christmas and New Year's.
Survivors include her husband, Nolan Landry, of Breaux Bridge; four sons, Kenneth Landry and his wife, Linda, Kirby Landry and his wife, Loraine, Harvey Landry and his wife, Tammy, and Horace Landry and his wife, Monica, all of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Glinda Meche, Jannes Courville, and Darla Landry, all of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, Howard Courville and his wife, Pansy, of Cecilia, and Earl Courville and his wife, Mildred, of Henderson; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcee and Alice Johnson Courville; and a son, Roger Dale Landry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be her four sons, and two grandsons, Timothy and Marcus Landry.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kirk Landry, Joshua Meche, Scott Landry, and Keith Courville
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
