New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 1, 2015, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Marie Simon, 91, who passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 11:30 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Rev. Mark Derise will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia. A longtime resident of New Iberia, Ms. Simon was born on September 19, 1923 in St. Martinville to Demas Simon and Carmilite Champagne. She enjoyed saying her rosary and praying for everyone. Survivors include her children, Alfred Landry and wife Betty of Cade, Jimmy Simon and companion Kim of Lafayette, Chris Landry of New Iberia, and Cathy Logan and husband Randy of New Iberia; brother, Harry Simon and wife Ruby of New Iberia; sister, Evelyn Romero of St. Martinville; 21 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 29 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Betty Landry, and Mary Duhon; sister, Olite Romero; brother, Jean Simon. Pallbearers will be Mark Reaux, Shane Reaux, Larry Reaux, Jean Reaux, Chad Reaux, J.R. Reaux, Corey Landry, and Cody Landry. Honorary pallbearers include Shannon Landry and David Landry.
