New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church New Iberia for Marjorie Hebert "Ole Miss" Chauvin, 88, who passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 3:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 8:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. A lifelong area resident, Marjorie Hebert Chauvin was born on September 15, 1929 to the late Honora and Regina Stoltz Hebert. She was an educator for many years, having taught at Hopkins Elementary, Peebles Elementary, and Avery Island Elementary, and she retired as Principal at Avery Island Elementary in 1984. She was very interactive with the students, being a Girl Scout Troop Leader and 4-H Leader. Marjorie was an excellent cook, and was best known for her famous cornbread dressing and fried chicken. Mrs. Chauvin is survived by daughters, Adrienne Chauvin of New Iberia and Renee Morimoto and husband Garth of Honolulu, Hawaii; sons, Louis Pat Baldridge and wife Phyllis, and Christopher A. Baldridge and wife Melinda, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jamie Fanol of New Iberia, Jamie B. Baldridge and fiance Brooke Beduze of Lafayette, Jeremy P. Baldridge and wife Sandy of Sulphur, Christopher Baldridge and wife Cheri of Oklahoma, Maggie Baldridge and fianc Jim Mortensen of New Iberia, Dominic Morimoto of Honolulu, and Alexandra Morimoto of Redmond, Washington; great-grandchildren, Ethan P. and Sophia P. Baldridge of Sulphur, Christopher, Dylan, and Breland Baldridge of New Iberia, and Grayson, Jolie, and Wyatt Mortensen of New Iberia; a step-grandchild, Cassie Duplantis of New Iberia; a host of nieces and nephews including a close niece, Johnnie McBroom of Ball; special friends, Patsy and Ronald Fremin of New Iberia; and her loving canine companion, Max. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis A. Baldridge and Harold Chauvin; two brothers, Dr. Larry Hebert and Anthony Hebert; and her neighbor and friend, Carolyn St. Pierre. Pallbearers will be Jamie Fanol, Jeremy P. Baldridge, Christopher Baldridge, Jim Mortensen, Joseph "Jojo" Richard, and Darryrl C. Carroll, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Pat Baldridge, Christopher A. Baldridge, Jamie B. Baldridge, Roland Fremin, Sr., Robert Quereau, Jacques Quereau, Marquie A. Isaac, Dominic Morimoto, and Jean Baptiste "Jay" St. Pierre. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Michelle Menard; Dr. Nguyen; Amanda in the ICU; the entire staff of LTAC at Iberia Medical Center, especially Jeanine George, Sharon Hamilton, Kelly Sorrel, Amy Waddell, and Gina St. Julian; and to Jackie LaPointe, Nettie Bonin, and The Rock Girls from Avery Island.
