Arnaudville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, on Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Marjorie Darby, 87, who passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 1 pm on Friday.
Rev. Keenan Brown will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Phyllis Stelly and Margaret Martin. Gift Bearers will be Joan Miller and Elizabeth Stelly. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Marjorie was a parishioner of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was the owner and operator of T-Negs Drive Inn for many years, while providing the best food a drive-inn could sell. She enjoyed cooking, spending time at the beach, visiting with family and friends, listening to good jokes, and dancing with her favorite partner, her beloved husband, Edwin.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis (Lloyd) Stelly, Margaret Martin, and Joan (Kenneth) Miller, all of Arnaudville; her son, Edwin Paul (Millie) Darby of Lafayette; her brother, Alvin "Bozo" Wright of Arnaudville; her sister, Mary Robin of Arnaudville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Randolph Wright and Ella Fruge Wright; her husband, Edwin Darby; her son, Patrick Darby; and a sister, Laura Melancon.
Pallbearers will be Paul Darby, Ian Darby, Luke Martin, Frankie Martin, Trevor Bergeron, and Trent Bergeron.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Miller, Brandon Crowder, Garrigg Crowder, Vanessa White, Emily Sonnier, Judith Crowder, Kaitlyn Miller-Knorr, Amanda Bergeron, Hannah Darby, and Amelia Stelly.
