New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Mark Anthony Viator Sr., 97, who passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday.
A resident of New Iberia, Mark Anthony Viator, Sr. was born on November 22, 1921 to the late Everard and Lucille Dugas Viator. He was a US Army combat veteran - WWII, 1940-1945, 156th Infantry/US Army 31st, Dixie Division, having served in North Africa, Corsica, France, Belgium, and Battle of the Bugle. Mr. Viator was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council 3425, 4th Degree Knight; Charter Member of the WWII Museum in New Orleans; and a member of the Bayou Teche Right to Life.
Mr. Viator is survived by his grandchildren, Lisa Williams, Craig Louviere and spouse Melanie, Christie Viator, Mark Anthony Viator, III, Dustin Viator, Allison Viator; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Elwood J. Louviere; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful friends, Melvin J. Petry and Una Bonin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florine Bonin Viator; son, Mark A. Viator, Jr.; daughter, Marcia Viator Louviere; brothers, Julius P. Viator and wife Marie Oubre Viator, John Brutus Viator and wife Enola Markham Viator, Cassius Q. Viator and wife Della Credeur Viator; and a sister, Cleo Viator Trappey and husband W.J. Trappey.
Pallbearers will be Craig Louviere, William "Bill" Trappey, Paul E. Viator, Charles "Chuck" Viator, Winston Copell, and James Viator.
Honorary pallbearers are Mark Anthony Viator, III, and Dustin Viator.
