Markell Troy Michael Gregoire

New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Markell Troy Michael Gregoire, 16, who passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, after a six year battle with cancer. Interment will be at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Markell was born on September 14, 1999, and was a graduate of New Iberia Senior High School. Survivors include his mother, Monique Gregoire of New Iberia; father, Robert Blaise, Jr. of New Iberia; grandparents, Otharee "Tiny" Loston and spouse Lawrence of New Iberia, Robert and Michelle Blaise of New Iberia, Arnold Gregoire of Lafayette; brothers, Mekhi Gregoire of New Iberia, Darique Ledet of Lafayette; sisters, Mariah Gregoire of New Iberia, Madison Michelle Gregoire of New Iberia, Madison Michelle Simon of New Iberia; aunts, Savitra Gregoire of New Iberia, Michelle Gregoire of New Iberia, Sharee Blaise-McConnell and husband Roger of Monroe; uncle, Milton Poochie Alexander, III of New Iberia; special friend who was like a step mom, Claudia Fontenot of New Iberia, LA; great-grandfather, Edward Blaise of New Iberia; great-grandmother, Louetta Jefferson of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Virginia Collins, Oswald Doucette, Mary Blaise, Louis Gregoire, Milton Guilliam, and Margurette H. Gregoire. Markell's family would like to give special thanks to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital staff, doctors, and nurses for their extraordinary care and compassion.
