St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2006, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Marshall Lewis, 84, who died Monday, December 11, 2006 at his residence in St. Martinville.
Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Lewis served his country in the U.S. Air Force from November 5, 1942 to April 24, 1943. ?He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, barbecuing, and exercising, but most of all, spending time with his wonderful family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Lewis (Julie) of Lafayette and Ronald J. Lewis (Geraldine) of Jeanerette; seven daughters, ?Theresa Lewis Pickney of St. Martinville, Mary Leona Hardy (Edward, Jr.) of ?New Orleans, Geraldine Lewis Jones of St. Martinville, Bertha Lewis Collins (Joseph) of New Iberia, Margaret Lewis Berard (Norbert, Jr.) of New Iberia, Geneva M. Lewis of New Orleans, and Mary Lucille Boudreaux (Phillip) of St. Martinville; two brothers, Morris Lewis of Lafayette and Peter Lewis of Centerville; two sisters, Beatrice Lewis Steptoe of Houston, TX and Lucille Thomas of Westwego; nineteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marcellite P. Lewis; his son, Leroy Lewis; five brothers, Phillip, Junius, Freddie, Irvin and Alfred Lewis; and six sisters, Bertha, Rebecca, Florita, Lorenza, Angela Lewis and Leontine Lewis Eli. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Benjamin N. Lewis; half siblings, Larry, Joe, Anthony, Paul, John, Benoit, Rose Louis Watkins and Geraldine Louis. ?Extended parents include Ida Patt Phillips and Walter Phillips; siblings, Anna, Nola, Leonia, Viola, Hilda, Irma, Veronica, Lennis, Ida and Dennis.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
